Project Requirement
A collocation data centre within the UK had a customer require the supply and installation of various types of copper and fibre cabling within some data cabinets in a pre-existing data hall. Puffin Solutions were approached by the client to provide pricing for the supply & installation of this equipment. Puffin Solutions have multiple years of experience working with colocation companies and won the business based on these reasons.
The Project Scope
The first step of the installation required Puffin Solution to purchase all materials required for the several hundreds of different types of cable.
Whilst Puffin were acquiring these products Puffin attended site to inspect the cabinet areas quoted for. It was discovered here that the cabinet areas were not adequate for the required cabling installation. Puffin Solutions assisted the customer into designing a better solution and routes to cabinets by installing additional overhead cable basket to assist.
Once the area was cleared to work in, Puffin Solution made pre-terminated lengths of cable so that the installation on site would be quick and efficient without causing the client significant down time for those particular working areas.
Once all cable was installed, Puffin Solution tested all cables to make sure all passed. If any cables failed, Puffin confirmed where the failures were and fixed or replaced these cables without adding delays to the customer.
Conclusion
Due to the issues found on site, Puffin built a solid working relationship with the client and because of this additional work has since been won and installed on this site. All cable test results were well documented and sent to the client for approval. Deadlines were met, and installation completed to the high standard Puffin aim towards for all projects.
